It’s been a year today that we stepped on that plane and travelled over 32 hours to start our new adventure. June 6th was the day we left behind our life in Fiji to move to Cork. I still can’t believe it’s been a year! After having lived in Fiji for almost four years by then, we knew it was time to move on and start a new adventure.
It’s been a very busy year, buying a car, finding a good school for the kids and setting up my business and Mr. SKD’s business. We haven’t stopped once since we arrived but it’s been great. The kids have settled into their new lives and made plenty of new friends. Our businesses have been growing and very soon we’ll be opening our very own salad bar and café. It’s been a whirlwind and it won’t stop for some time but we are truly enjoying it!
Do I have regrets to have given up an expat life? No, I don’t. Of course I still miss our friends in Fiji but some of them have moved on to new adventures so it would have never been the same without them. At the end it’s all about the people you are with that make a place home. (But I do miss the sunshine, warmth and flips flops)
Here are some of my favourite photos of our first year in Fiji in 2010 – after all today is all about remembering the great times we had there.
