Tell us about yourself!
Hello ‘The Sunkissed Diary’ readers! I’m Kate from ‘Pure Irish Sugar Blog’. My blog is based on ‘The Diary of a Red Head’ living in Ireland with typically Irish red hair, pale skin, blue eyes an the occasional freckle or two. I created my blog to show my readers my life living in Dublin and the adventure that awaits… hope you are ready!
What inspired you to start blogging?
Two years ago I had thought about the idea of starting up a travel blog as I was setting off on a 4 month around the world trip but before I left I just didn’t have the time and parked the idea of starting a blog. Since returning home I went back to college and wanted to perfect my writing skills and thought starting a blog would be my best way. I was right. When you put your work on the internet for the world and it’s mother to see you are selective and become a perfectionist with everything. I really enjoy creating stories about things I like.
What drives you to keep blogging?
The buzz of reading what people have to say about my opinion, whether it’s a beauty or fashion issue. When I first started my blog I kept it to myself and didn’t share my posts on social media because I was afraid that no one would be interested in what I had to say but I was very wrong on this. I love interacting with other bloggers and they also give me the inspiration to keep writing. I love meeting up with other bloggers and I have made some really good friends through blogging.
What will readers find on your blog?
My blog ‘Pure Irish Sugar’ is mainly beauty as I come from a beauty background but I also like to post about my personal style and how I like to put a twist to my fashion choices. There is the occasional food review and Spa trip too, I like to mix things up!
Describe your perfect day!
A perfect day…hmmm… well if I lived in dream land it would have be travelling to different cities. I love the adventures of travelling and the memories you make. One of my life quotes would have to be ‘Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer’. You don’t need to go far to have an adventure.
Where do you shop?
Everywhere! hehe! I am a serious shop-a-holic but if I had to choose my favourite places they would have to be online. I love www.boohoo.com & www.asos.com for fashion and www.cloud10beauty.com for beauty products. I go through phases of buying from the same shops but love finding a cute boutique. I like to put my own stamp on my style.
What are your 5 beauty essentials you can’t live without?
Just 5, well this is tough!
- This has to be my favourite tan, Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter 1 Hour Tan Mousse. Outfits do look better when you are tanned after all.
- This would be my cleanser, Cetaphil. I have incredibly sensitive skin and cannot use strong or thick cleansers so this one is perfect for me.
- Looking after your skin is key so I love exfoliating my face with Dermalogia Daily Microfoliant. It is a power that when you add water to it, it foams up. Great for sensitive skin again.
- I love experimenting with makeup and right now I adore NYX Butter Glosses. I have them in 3 colours but need more!
- Last but not least has to be my Charlotte Tilbury Face Sculpt & Highlight palette. Contouring is key this season and I just love how you can play around with different looks with this product
What’s your favourite ‘me time’ activity?
I love to exercise, I find it really helps clear my mind and unwind from the busy day. Nothing beats a good run on a fab summers evening or else walking my dogs. I love to get out and about in the fresh air.
You have a night off and unlimited funds: what do you do?
Ahhh…decisions! Well with unlimited funds I would have to go shopping! Such a typical girl but I just love to shop. I would fly to the biggest TopShop and book a personal stylist to pick out all of my clothes. That is how I would spend my night off.
What’s your favourite Holiday destination and why should we go?
New York without a doubt. I remember the first time I visited the fabulous city and it is a memory I will have forever. My dream is to someday live in New York. I love everything about the city and it’s hectic lifestyle. It truly is a city that never sleeps and has endless adventures.
What are your top 3 favourite restaurants in Dublin?
I am a huge foodie. This is mainly influenced by my family. Myself and my boyfriend have made a ‘Foodie Bucket List’. Dublin really has such a wide variety of places to eat! My Top 3 recent places that I have ate in have to be San Lorenzo’s for brunch (be very hungry going), Avenue by Nick Munier (New restaurant with a cool funky vibe) and Ely Wine Bar (Becuase who doesn’t love a good glass of red wine!)
Which two other (Irish) blogger would you like to see on the blog?
I would love to see Melissa from http://www.lipstickandlouboutins.ie/, her blog is so fun and girly and she is a whiz for the beauty tips!
Also Elisha from http://alongcamepollly.blogspot.ie/ has a great blog. I love her quirky fashion posts!
